Rory Pilgrim: The Sacred Repositories Trilogy

Tuesday 20th June 2017 - Thursday 6th July 2017

Plymouth Arts Centre cinema 1-5pm (at times when the cinema is in use for matinées, this film will be shown on an alternative screen).

Shown for the first time as the complete Sacred Repositories trilogy, the three interconnected films explore communities who are speaking out against the status quo in order to not only protect those in need but to foster hope and temper change. Sacred Repository N.1: VIOLENTLY SPEAKING creates a constellation of different spaces and landscapes that all offer protection, refuge and the possibility of social development. Sacred Repository N.2: AFFECTION IS THE BEST PROTECTION brings together three LGBT communities in Dakar, (Senegal), St Petersburg and the local town of Almere (The Netherlands) to explore current ideas surrounding safe space, love and protection. Sacred Repository N.3: THE OPEN SKY introduces five women who lived through the radical movements of the 60s and 70s. Exploring ideas of time, family and solidarity THE OPEN SKY attempts to create a home for language past, present and future that endeavours to allow words to remain a transformative tool of action.
