Charlotte Rampling won Best Actress at the Venice Film Festival for this intimate portrait of a woman drifting between reality and denial when she is left alone to grapple with the consequences of her husband's imprisonment. She walks a razor-wire emotional tightrope as an elderly woman in Brussels, struggling to cope with near-unbearable personal pressures. Her husband has been convicted of some kind of paedophile offence; she has stood by him, believing his innocence but she stumbles on information which changes everything.
